Basic gas detection is relatively simple.
Detecting gas accurately, reliably, repeatedly and affordably isn’t. And add a pressurised environment, troublesome gases such as helium, varying temperatures and high (or low) humidity into the mix and it starts to get very difficult. But this is when we at Analox get interested and excited.
We are often (almost daily) asked to quote for simple, portable detectors for gases such as H2S or CO and once we’ve qualified the enquiry we usually politely decline the invitation. Whilst this might look like a missed opportunity we see that in these instances we can’t add any value. If a small town has 25 plumbing companies already – why open a new one?
But when a customer comes to us with a gas detection problem – that is when we come into our own. Conversations that include the following phrases are music to our ears:
- “It needs to work at x pressures”
- “The system is critical for life support”
- “It needs to be very low maintenance”
- “It needs to detect x gas at very low levels”
- “It has to pass rigorous testing”
- “It needs through life support for at least 15 years”
- “Nobody we’ve spoke with seems capable or interested in finding a solution”
- “It needs to comply with X standard”
We have enjoyed relationships with some of customers since we were established and many others for decades. And in the past 18 months we have signed more global distributors than ever before to support our growing brand. So why do people join us? And why do they stick with us for so long?
Over the coming months we will be answering the simple question: Why Analox?
You might be surprised by some of the answers…
