R&D Christmas tree

How Analox do Christmas lights part II – a very festive clocking in system

You may remember last year that we reported on our R&D’s team’s innovative Christmas decorations, where they linked their Christmas tree lights to an Ax60 carbon dioxide sensor, making them all flash in sync. We wondered what they would do in 2016…

Not to be outdone, the R&D team have devised not only a festive project this year, but also a very practical one!

The Christmas tree in the R&D department is covered with baubles depicting caricatures of all the members of the team. When a member of the team clocks into work using their ID card, their bauble lights up with an LED light. When they clock out of work, their bauble turns off.

Nathan Stevenson, Electronics Engineer explained: “Our original plan was to light up the tree with 23 Ax60 repeaters, but we came to the conclusion that this would be too much of a strain. This way we not only have a very bright Christmas tree, but we can see when members of the team are out of the office, which is a bonus.”

Next year the team plan to integrate music into the system, making the tree play tunes when the baubles light up.
